Success for All

The Success for All reading program is a researched based program developed by Dr. Bob Slavin and Nancy Madden in partnership with Johns Hopkins University. The program components are designed for students at every stage of reading development.

Success For All Levels:

Kindergarten:

In kindergarten the students are welcomed into their classroom, in Kinder Corner, where they develop oral language skills through reading, writing and the use of vocabulary. The students not only learn their letters and sounds, but they are also reading books by the end of the year! The students are engaged in grade appropriate reading, where they are encouraged to make predictions, record their observations and have meaningful discussions about literature.

First Grade:

In first grade students are involved in a ninety minute comprehensive reading program called Roots. In Roots, the students develop their reading skills through the use of fast track phonics, which provides the students with a foundation for reading. Roots also helps the students foster their love for reading by providing enchanting literature, oral language development and focused writing instruction. Students are able to move at their own pace through the wonderful shared stories provided through the Roots program that help the students learn new vocabulary and enhance their fluency and comprehension skills.

Second and Third Grade:

In second and third grade students are involved in a ninety minute comprehensive reading program called Wings. During the ninety minute program students are exposed to enriching vocabulary, review of key phonics skills, reading and listening comprehension and even reading fluency. Students are moved to a new reading group every quarter based off of their success in their previous class, which allows for students to reach their full potential. Students receive the instruction they need at the level they need in order to be the most successful.
